Though, my vivacious and intelligent friend Adam Connell, author of Dangerous Liberal, is somehow convinced that our society is not broken. I know you’re on the left Adam – But being simple-minded is not you. So, come on – admit it - Britain is Broken.
Teenage shootings, knife crime, binge drinking, record alcohol-related hospital admissions, the highest number of teenage pregnancies in Europe, road rage, crumbling public services, poor school discipline, debt, obesity and poor diets, rising abortion rates and a dramatic increase in births outside marriage –How can you possibly say this is not a broken society?
Erm....It always amuses me when I hear idiots on the Left claim that people don’t choose to live on benefits, that people on benefits are desperate to get out of their current situation, that our benefit system is already too tough. Oh, really. What about the 5.9million working-age people claiming out- of-work benefits, costing £74.4billion a year in welfare payment?
Right I will give you five facts, regarding Young People, the future of Britain:
Nearly 39% of 11 to 17 year olds in the UK had taken drugs in the last year – The Highest percentage in Europe.
Exactly 29 young people were killed involving Knife crime, last year – The Highest number in any other EU country.
Everyday 21 (Oh now its 26) girls under 16 – the legal age of sexual consent – were pregnant. In 1997 it was nine young girls. We are the worst country for teenage pregnancies in Europe.
At 19.8% Britain has the highest number of jobless 16 to 24 year-olds in Europe.
Sometime I will do a a post about the need to introduce a 21st century National service, to help fix Broken Britain. Oh and I hate ‘aint it’- I promise to never use it again!

Master Rowlinson, are you not slightl obsessed with broken society..
Where are the statistics from?
How am I simple-minded?! Vivacious, intelligent and leftwing maybe, but simple-minded? Oh Oliver..
But being simple-minded is not you! I nearly didn’t choose Vivacious; it suggests that I am implying something. I have been called it plenty of times though!
The statistics are from http://www.statistics.gov.uk/hub/index.html
My apologies Oliver!
One thing I will say is that you should attribute every single statistic that you use to the exact source, not the government website which you may have found the figures from!
Do you not sleep Adam! You make a good point about posting statistics. I promise to show exact sources, in all future posts.
I'm a student. My bodyclock's screwed up.
